Preschool Learning Through Art - Ages 3 & 4 (Online)- Ms. Coutts

I will be your preschool arts and crafts teacher for the 2020-2021 school years! I will be teaching you how to work with different materials such as paint, glue, scissors, markers, and paper. Together we will explore you’re love for learning and creating.

The most important goal of this class is to create an environment for parents and children where they can explore their creative sides. Another goal is to create an environment to practice what your children will be learning in preschool this year. At this age, preschoolers will start to identify letters, letter sounds, colors, shapes, objects, and numbers. They will also be learning how to count. This Arts and Crafts course will aid in these practices. This course will also help with hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It will prepare your children for the use of various media and materials. It will contribute to your child’ developments in creative play and aid them in pretend play and role playing. This class will provide an environment where they can socialize with their peers and learn valuable preschool skills.

Fun with Musical Instruments - Age 3 - Grade 2 (Online) - Miss. Kim

Welcome to the music and instrument class! In this class, I will be sharing lots of instruments with you through the session. There are a lot of instruments lying in my house that I can play for you or some that I can show you what they may look and sound like. Music has been a big part of my life, and it would be great to share this with others who enjoy music as much as I do. If any of you guys are playing an instrument, we could even show each other our playing and talk about our experiences. You may even find an instrument in this session that you may want to play more in depth. I look forward to having you in my class and experience a whole world of music!

Teacher Bio:

Karen Kim graduated from University of North Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education with a Reading Endorsement. She has taken private piano lessons for 14 years and performed hymnal songs along with special music during worship services at her church. She was raised as an SDA (Seventh-Day Adventist) all her life and was given lots of opportunities to perform her instruments during song service along with teaching kids in the Sabbath School program and VBS (Vacation Bible School). Karen taught kindergarteners and first graders in the Sabbath School program for 2 years and was a coordinator in cradle roll at VBS for 3 years. She has some teaching experience where she tutored a student for a semester in Spanish and is currently tutoring at a JEI program. It has been two years since Karen was in the Education program and finished her student teaching at a Gainesville elementary school. She took private cello lessons for 2 years, then joined the orchestra at her church and school from middle to high school. She performed at school concerts for her orchestra class, participated in LGPE, and volunteered at nursing homes and other locations with the orchestra group from church. She had the opportunity to teach basic cello to students from church who are just starting with this instrument for 7-8 months. She enjoys interacting with the kids and tries to make all lessons and activities as engaging as possible. She would like to incorporate a lot of lessons that involve a lot of visual and audio representations by implementing integration arts and music into her future classroom. Karen has 2 years of teaching experience in the classroom, but she will continue to gain more years of experience by teaching English abroad in China after she graduates using the TEFL Certificate she gained from the program. She may not have a major or minor in music, but she constantly tries to bring music into the learning environment to differentiate her teaching and learning methods for the students. On top of that, she continues to develop her teaching skills through tutoring and student teaching and musical skills through individual practice at home. She hopes to have students love every aspect of music along with having them enjoy music and apply it in their learning.
